He is widely recognized as the creator of Elevent Index, a structured framework developed for evaluating startup investment quality, funding preparedness, and capital readiness. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Ghosh Group, a diversified business group based in Kolkata.

Early life and background
Dr. Bitan Ghosh was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, into the family associated with the Kolkata-based Ghosh Group. Growing up in an entrepreneurial environment, he developed early interests in engineering, business management, infrastructure development, and enterprise strategy.
Throughout his professional journey, Kolkata has remained central to his work and identity, with much of his entrepreneurial and research-driven work emerging from the city. Dr. Ghosh completed his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar, graduating in May 2014.
In 2019, he completed a Master of Business Administration specializing in International Business and Finance from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata.
In March 2026, he completed a Doctor of Business Administration from Swiss School of Business and Management, Geneva. His doctoral research focused on corporate finance behavior in India, with the thesis titled The Dynamics of Corporate Finance in India: Adjustment Behavior, Peer Effects and Market Realities.
He has additionally completed executive and certification programs from institutions including Harvard Business School Online, London School of Economics and Political Science, London Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Metropolitan School of Business & Management.
Professional career
Dr. Bitan Ghosh began his career in July 2014 as a Civil Engineer with Daelim Industrial Company Limited in Kuwait. During this period, he worked on EPC operations connected with the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery project in collaboration with Foster Wheeler and Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
Between 2016 and 2017, he served as Executive Director of Senbo Engineering Limited in Kolkata, overseeing operational planning, infrastructure execution, strategic business development, and international business initiatives. His work included infrastructure assignments connected with Kolkata Metro and tunnel projects under Northeast Frontier Railway in Nagaland.
In 2017, he became Chief Executive Officer and Director of Orphius Technologies Private Limited, where he worked on technology-oriented solutions involving cybersecurity, IoT systems, digital infrastructure, and emerging technology integration. He remained in this role until 2020.
Since August 2021, he has served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Naexo Consulting (OPC) Private Limited, a consultancy focused on engineering advisory, project management, infrastructure consulting, and strategic enterprise development.
Since October 2015, Dr. Ghosh has been associated with Ghosh Group, initially serving as Director. His responsibilities included enterprise development, capital planning, business structuring, infrastructure advisory, and coordination across the Group’s multiple verticals. In April 2025, he was elevated to Managing Director, assuming wider responsibility for governance, long-term strategy, organizational growth, and investment planning.

Elevent Index is a startup evaluation framework developed by Dr. Bitan Ghosh to create structured methods for assessing investment opportunities and capital preparedness within startup ecosystems.
The framework consists of three integrated components:
- Investment Quality Score (IQS) – measuring startup quality through eleven business dimensions.
- Funding Readiness Score (FRS) – measuring preparedness to raise investment capital.
- Capital Readiness Score (CRS) – combining investment quality and fundraising readiness into a single overall score.
The framework was designed to provide founders, analysts, investors, venture capital firms, and investment committees with a systematic model for evaluating startup potential and investment readiness.
