Sohong Dhar (born 25 November 1985) is an Indian data scientist, computational linguist, inventor, and researcher. He is known for his interdisciplinary contributions to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, library science, and big data analytics. As of 2025, he serves as an information scientist at Google Brain.
Early Life and Education
Sohong Dhar was born in Howrah, West Bengal, where he studied at Shibpur Dinobandhu Branch. Influenced early by classical Indian logic systems like Nyāya and Vaiśeṣika, he developed an interest in structured reasoning and linguistics.
He earned a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Calcutta, a Master of Library and Information Science from Jadavpur University, and an M.Sc. in Data Science from IIT Madras. He is pursuing doctoral research at the Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University.
In addition to his academic degrees, Dhar holds global certifications including Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Microsoft Certified Data Scientist Associate, ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt, CompTIA Security+, and CISSP.
Career
Dhar has worked in various capacities, including business analyst at SAAS Academy, visiting fellow at C-Voter, and currently at Google Brain. His expertise covers sectors such as AI, healthcare, education, publishing, and cybersecurity.
He is also the developer of the "information acclamation framework," inspired by Paul Samuelson’s acceleration-multiplier theory, applied in modeling informational shocks in complex systems.
