Hareshbhai Popatbhai Patoriya (born 1 September 1973) is an Indian entrepreneur, mechanical engineer, and the Founder & Managing Director of Icon Packtech India Private Limited. He is best known for establishing Icon Industries in 1995 and pioneering the development of food and non-food packaging machinery in India.
Over three decades, he has led the company’s growth from a small-scale unit in Rajkot to a nationally recognized packaging machinery manufacturer serving major dairy, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
Early life and education
Hareshbhai Patoriya was born in Rajkot, Gujarat, into a humble agricultural family. His father worked as a farmer, while his mother managed the household. Growing up in a modest environment, he developed a strong work ethic and passion for engineering.
He completed his schooling in Rajkot and later pursued higher education in Maharashtra, where he honed his technical skills in mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, and machinery operations.
Early career
Hareshbhai began his professional journey as a Service Maintenance Engineer in the packaging machinery trading sector. His hands-on experience in machine installation, repair, and customer service helped him understand the growing industrial demand for reliable packaging solutions in India.
This exposure inspired him to build indigenous, high-quality packaging machines to reduce India’s dependence on imported systems.
Entrepreneurial journey
Founding of Icon Industries (1995)
In 1995, at just 22 years of age, Hareshbhai founded Icon Industries in Rajkot. The company initially produced small-scale pouch packaging machines for the dairy and food sector.
Under his leadership, the company soon expanded into:
