Tapan Acharya (born 2 August 1981) is a prominent Indian actor, producer, filmmaker, and TV personality who has contributed extensively to Konkani and Marathi cinema. He also plays vital roles in sports governance and digital innovation policy in Goa.
Career
Acharya’s breakthrough came with the award-winning film Aleesha (2004), acclaimed under the National Film Awards as a top regional film. His first media presence, however, dates back to 2001 when he hosted Chum Chum Chanana on Doordarshan Goa.
He has appeared in regional films, television, and web series, while also directing over 100 films, awareness campaigns, and institutional films for entities like the Election Commission of India and Goa Police.
In 2023, Acharya co-produced Dil Dosti Deewangi, contributing to its regional success.
Administrative and Policy Work
Elected as President of the Goa Roll Ball Association in mid-2023, Acharya went on to lead the Roll Ball Federation of India by the year's end. His focus remains on youth engagement and grassroots sports infrastructure.
By 2024, he became President of the Goa AVCG-XR Association, aligning with India’s national AVGC-XR policy to boost the creative technology ecosystem—including animation, VFX, gaming, and XR.
Education and Personal Interests
A native of Loliem-Polem, Goa, Acharya completed his early education at Shri Damodar Vidhalaya and his undergraduate studies at Shri Damodar College, Margao. He also studied law at G.R. Kare Law College and earned a PG diploma in management studies.
His personal interests include astrology, numerology, and mythology, reflecting his inclination toward ancient sciences and Vedic knowledge.
Other Affiliations
Tapan is connected with the Rowing and Sculling Association de Goa and has actively worked with the Election Commission of India as a designated Youth Icon to enhance youth electoral participation in Goa.
